TARGET & FIELD ARCHERY
in the rolling Dorset countryside
Welcome to Purbeck Archers
... the archery club with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Purbeck Archery Club provides a family friendly environment for members to enjoy
the sport of Archery. Adults and children are welcome to join as members. All abilities are encouraged to participate in club sessions. We shoot target and field archery all
year. During the summer months, mid-April to mid-October the club shoots at the Purbeck Shooting School (PSS) grounds near Bere Regis. In the winter months target shooting takes place at Piddlehinton Gym, 3 miles north of Dorchester whilst the hardiest field archers will keep shooting at PSS all winter through.
We shoot once a week on Sunday 10am to 1pm.
Daily subs are £2 indoors at Piddlehinton and £1 outdoor at PSS.

Training
We run beginners courses during the year when there are enough applicants to make up a course.
The course will take you from absolute beginner to a reasonable archer knowing how to shoot safely in compliance with the GNAS rules of shooting.
The club supplies all the equipment needed to learn to shoot. The sessions cover safety, equipment maintenance, both scoring methods, along with short talks on other archery skills.
The course costs £60 for seniors & £30 for Juniors and is currently limited to those people over 12 years of age, no upper limit as long as you think you will be able to pull the bow safely. In general there is no medical reason that will stop you participating, if in doubt please ask.
Please note that applicants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to comply with the club’s child protection policy.
If you intend to join our club then completion of this course or a similar one run by another GNAS club is required before membership will be considered.
